2020-2021
impact report
Northwest Immigrant Rights Project promotes justice by defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education.
Letter from the Board President and Executive Director
LIZ DUNBAR
&
JORGE L. BARÓN
To say the last two years have been difficult would be an understatement.
We are heartbroken by the toll the global pandemic has had on the immigrant community here in the U.S. and communities around the world. Many of the people we serve have been left out of federal support programs, effectively barring them from the economic assistance, health services, and other crucial lifelines available to other community members.

Our Work in Action
Pro Bono
Spotlight
Northwest Immigrant Rights Project places great emphasis on training others, in order to stretch its resources as far as they can go. One of NWIRP’s great successes is our pro bono panel of attorneys, who are instrumental in sharing the workload of directly representing immigrants. We spoke with two pro bono attorneys about their experience representing clients for NWIRP.
Thank You!
Every story in this report happened because of the work of this community. From the brave immigrants who faced overwhelming injustices in their pursuit of safety and security, to the supporters who provided their time, talent, or treasure to connect these community members to important resources.
From all of us at NWIRP, we would like to say thank you.

Financial information for 2021 is preliminary and has not yet been reviewed by an independent auditor. Figures for government grants in 2021 include one-time revenue due to forgiveness of a loan under the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) that NWIRP received in 2020 but which must be recognized as revenue in 2021. Individual contributions figures also reflect a generous five-year pledge made in 2021 that will be received in 2022-2026 but which must be recorded in 2021 under accounting rules. Similarly, foundation grant numbers reflect one multi-year grant awarded in 2021 to be used in 2022-2023.
Revenue and expenses are reported without including donated services, which were valued at $2,765,578 in 2021.
